Motorcycle trials given go-ahead

Posted on Friday, 14 November 2008

Motorcycle trials could soon be taking place in the Lyth Valley after Lake District National Park planners gave a plan the green light.

This is provided that the area’s nationally important juniper bushes and limestone pavement are protected.

The Lakes Grass Track Racing Club, based at Natland Park, had applied to use land at Township Allotment for trials for three days per calendar year.

A condition was imposed on the plan preventing motorcycles crossing limestone pavement, and spectators and course officials should be made aware of the existence and importance of limestone pavement.
